CNA Training in New Mexico

If you are interested in becoming a CNA in New Mexico, you should find out which schools and programs will be accepted in your state. In New Mexico, simply going through CNA training often allows you to become registered with the CNA registry.

To become a fully licensed and certified CNA in New Mexico, you must follow the rules set forth by the Nursing Board and prove that you are eligible for a license. Applicants must go through mandatory tuberculosis testing and drug testing prior to their applications being accepted. New Mexico CNA training may require you to go through an accredited school, but you may also be able to get qualifying credits transferred and recognized.

In addition to being at least 16 years of age, you must attend and complete a Nursing Board approved New Mexico CNA training course. These training courses may be provided at a local college or university. You will also need to have your GED or high school diploma, proof of immunization and a clear criminal background check.

The Nursing Board also has clear policies in place for the transferring of credentials. Certified nursing assistants from other states whom wish to work in New Mexico should be prepared to fill out an application and supply a copies of their certifications. Although these rules are set, the Board of Nursing does sometimes allow applicants with special circumstances to become licensed.
