CNA Classes in North Carolina

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services runs and manages the registry of all CNAs in the state. If you are an actively licensed certified nursing assistant living in another state, licensing should be simple and straightforward. Although the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has the final say, healthcare professionals with adequate knowledge can also bypass the North Carolina CNA classes. For everyone else, the licensing process will require you to go through several steps.

A physical fitness examination, completed drug and background test, proof of CPR training, and the completion of an approved North Carolina CNA schools is needed for employment. The state does allow approved nursing assistant course students to work in the field while in school, but this period of employment can last no more than four months. The classes that you attend has to provide a minimum of 75 approved course hours of study. In addition, a total of 16 course hours have to consist of hands on training.

Only high school graduates or those with a GED can become certified nursing assistants in North Carolina. You can’t have any criminal convictions, and you must also prove that you have a clean criminal record. The minimum age for CNA class graduates is 18.

Becoming a nursing assistant starts with education. Whether you complete an approved class course within the state, have equivalent training, or are coming from somewhere else, is it important that you familiarize yourself all of these requirements. Enrollment in the right North Carolina classes is all that you need to get on the right path.
