To be listed on the California nurse aide regisry individuals must
Complete and pass both written and skills portion of a state approved Nurse Aide training exam Containing a minimal of 150 hours.
- One hundred (100) hours of clinical training under the immediate supervision of the Director of Staff Development or Instructor.
- A minimum of fifty (50) hours of classroom instruction shall be conducted in either a nursing facility, an agency or a public educational institution

California CNA Certification Renewal
California CNAs must renew their certifications every two years. You must met the requirements for renewal.
- Completed at least 48 hours of continuing education units
- Worked for pay in a facility within the past 2 years
If You dont met the criteria for renewal, you still need to fill out the renewal form and reatke the certification test.
Transferring Your CNA Certification to California
To transfer current CNA certification to California, you will need to request a certification through reciprocity. You will need to downlad an application from the California Department of Public health.

Request for Live Scan Services-- Form no BCIA 8016
CNA Initial Application Form” Form no CPDH 283Bo
You will need to send a copy of your state issued certificate, and Show proof of employment in the last two years.
Request for Name/Address Change and/or Duplicate for CNA/HHA/CHT Certificate
