CHCA offers free, four-week home health aide training in both English and Spanish. Classes take place at 400 East Fordham Road in the Bronx and run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Graduates of the training program receive dual certification as a Certified Home Health Aide and Personal Care Assistant, with guaranteed employment through CHCA

Interested in pursuing a career in New York as a patient care technician?  There are an array of great training classes in the state that offer the free patient care technician training.

Training or going back to school can be expensive. Grants and loans may be available based on those who need financial need. There are some Scholarships may be available from your chosen school or professional and health-based organizations.

The free PCT training can be obtained through hospitals and sometimes funds can be provided through the Workforce Investment Act to those who fall under the qualifications.  The eligibility to receive every type of the federal student aid will be determined through a standardized blueprint that is based upon the information that is provided on the Application that is free for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The amount of financial assistance that the student will be offered depends upon the student’s financial need.

Training for this profession can be found at area hospitals, local community colleges and healthcare training institutions.  To be eligible to take the state exam for a patient care technician a high school diploma or a GED is often required.
