Free Certified Nursing Assistant Training in North Dakota

Each  state will have different requirements pertaining to the amount of time necessary for Certified Nursing Assistant training. The best place to get specifics on what it would take to become a CNA in your state is to contact your State Nurse Aide Registry or State Licensing Board.

There are local healthcare facilities, especially nursing homes that will advertise free classes or "earn while you learn." Programs in job boards and newspapers.  You can also find these opportunities on the facility website usually under the career or employment section.  Individuals can usually register for one of these free classes even if they don’t have any prior experience in the healthcare field.  These courses can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks full-time. You may be required to work at the facility for a certain period of time in return for the free training.

The classes that you take will cover basic anatomy, physiology, nutrition and essential health care, as well as activities of daily living. The training will cover hands on as well as theories and lecture.

The Certified Nursing Assistant Exam

Of course, the written exam is only part of the CNA certification test. There will also be a hands-on portion in which you will be watched in action.  Those who take classes in nursing facilities will receive more hands on training then those who take course at a community college or university.  This is a plus when taking the skills portion of the state exam.  The examiners will be observing you to see if you know the steps to take for a given skill, as well as how confident and attentive to detail you are in such situations.
